Smoking is not only injurious to health but is hard to quit. Let's have a look at the celebrities who set a great example by giving up smoking.

Actors and actresses in Bollywood and South Indian film industry are known for the films they act in. But sometimes these celebrities make headlines for their bad habits as well. Many celebrities are addicted to smoking. Smoking is not only injurious to health but a deadly addiction that is hard to quit. Despite knowing its repercussions, many continue with the habit because they find it difficult to quit it. It requires a lot of patience and sheer determination. However many Bollywood and South Indian Film celebrities were able to quit the habit. Moreover, they also set a great example by giving up smoking. 

 

We will look at some of the famous Indian actors who gave up smoking!

 

Rajinikanth 

Earlier, in his career, he used to smoke too much which eventually led to health problems. His body organs were affected and was also treated in Singapore. After that, he decided to quit smoking and also advised people to quit the habit.

 

Hrithik Roshan

After so many unsuccessful attempts, Hrithik Roshan decided to quit smoking after he read a book Easy Way To Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. He also helped his friends Arjun Rampal and his ex-wife Meher to stop smoking. 

 

Kamal Haasan

The legendary actor first smoked a cigarette when he was 11 years old. He admitted that his mother was the main reason to give up smoking. He also jokingly said that he quit the habit since he had to do many lip-lock scenes.

 

Salman Khan

Salman Khan was a prolific chain-smoker and quit the injurious habit after he suffered some health complications.

 

Mahesh Babu

Mahesh Babu used to smoke many times and we have seen him doing it in his films. However, he eventually gave up after ‘reading a book on smoking’ by the author Allen Carr. 

 

Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan was too addicted to smoking once. He got freed from the nasty clutches with the help of his children. His children coaxed and nagged him so much that he significantly cut down on the habit and finally gave up smoking after his son Azad was born.

 

Rana Daggubati - 

He started smoking for a movie and also got addicted to it for many years. When he started dubbing for a movie, he found it really challenging and after which, he consulted the doctor for a solution for a better voice. The doctor recommended him to quit smoking and the actor quit the habit ever since.

 

Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn renounced his habit of smoking while shooting for his film Raid. After numerous attempts, the actor made a resolution and successfully gave up the injurious habit.

 

Vijay Devarakonda

The actor who never smoked a cigarette was forced to smoke in the movie Arjun Reddy. The story required the character to carry a smoking habit. However, Vijay then gave up the smoking habit once the movie got over.

 

Saif Ali Khan 

Saif Ali Khan who once was a chain-smoker, suffered a cardiac arrest at the age of 36. Since then, he took stock of his life and gave up smoking. The incident changed his life so much that the actor abstains from alcohol too.
