Bihar: Tuition Teacher Brutally Thrashes 6-Year-Old Student

Every parent wants their children to educate well and for this the child is admitted to a good school. In addition, to school, the child is also sent for tuitions. Parents work hard for their child’s education. Teachers also want their students to learn and sometimes have to mildly punish the child for their mistakes. But the punishments are not so harsh that the child faints or is severely injured. However a few days back a video went viral where a coaching class teacher was mercilessly thrashing a 5 - 6 year old child. The student is kicked and punched until he is unconscious
Taking Suo-moto cognizance of the video, Patna police traced the victim’s house and reached out to his father to file an FIR. Acting on the complaint of the parents at the Dhanarua police station, the police arrested the accused teacher Amarkant Kumar aka Chotu sir, from the Nalanda district, where he was hiding at his uncle’s home. A case in various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Justice Juvenile Act has been registered against him. Police said the teacher lost control when the boy presented his work while the teacher was busy talking with a girl student in the classroom. However some reports said that the boy heard the teacher making lewd comments to a female student.
Patna SSP, MS Dhillon said, “The incident took place on 2nd July. The accused teacher lost his cool and allegedly thrashed a student for around 4 to 5 minutes until he lost consciousness. The teacher caught the boy’s hair and started kicking and punching him. It continued till the stick broke into two pieces. The kid eventually fainted and sustained various injuries including some on his chest and spine. The boy lost mental condition (trauma) after getting grievously hurt by the teacher. He was admitted to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) and was later discharged after he showed improvement in his condition. The police also said, “The teacher operated the Jaya Public School in Dhanarua area, he was the principal of the school and also ran a coaching centre. Following the incident, police confiscated all the computers, furniture and papers of the school.” Meanwhile, the National Commission For Protection Of Child Rights has also filed a separate case against the teacher.
