Change Your DP With Tricolour on India's Independence Day

PM Narendra Modi has urged people to put ‘Tiranga’ as the profile picture of their social media accounts.

India became independent on 15th August, 1947 and since then we proudly celebrate 15th August as India’s Independence day every year. However, the coming independence day is even more important as it will be celebrating India’s 75 Years of Independence. To mark this extremely important milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday 2nd August put ‘tiranga’ (tricolor) as the display picture on his social media accounts and urged people to do the same as part of a collective movement to celebrate the Tricolor in his Mann ki Baat radio broadcast which was broadcasted on Sunday 31st July.

After urging people to change their social media display pictures with the Indian flag, Narendra Modi on 2nd August changed his own DP on Twitter again and urged the citizens to do the same. The Prime Minister also mentioned that this event is now turning into a mass movement and urged people to put ‘Tiranga’ as the profile picture of their social media accounts between August 2 and 15 in order to support the movement. Narendra Modi also paid homage to the Pingali Venkayya, who had designed the Indian national flag, on his birth anniversary which also falls on 2nd August. He said “Our nation will forever be indebted to him for his efforts of giving us the Tricolour, which we are very proud of. Taking strength and inspiration from the Tricolour, may we keep working for national progress."

Soon after Narendra Modi changed his display picture on social media, a lot of other citizens supported this campaign by changing their display picture to the tricolor, along with other senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president J P Nadda. Along with the movement to change social media display pictures, the BJP government has also urged the citizens to unfurl the Indian National Flag at their homes from 13th August to 15th August and has referred to this movement as “Har Ghar Tiranga”.

Earlier in order to mark India’s 75 years of independence, the central government also gifted the citizens with free booster doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to everyone who is above 18 years old and falls under the eligible category for 75 days starting from the 15th July. ISH News Link:
