Since the cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra have been increasing, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has given a stern warning to the people and said there will be a total lockdown if people don't start wearing face masks. Uddhav Thackeray said that he was monitoring the residents for the next 10 to 15 days and if the Covid-19 norms were flouted, he would be forced to reimpose a lockdown in the state. Uddhav said the situation in Maharashtra is very serious. The next eight days will decide whether there will be a lockdown or not. A night curfew and a week-long complete lockdown has been announced in the Amravati district of Maharashtra. 

The Mumbai Police Commissioner Tweeted that the police earlier would issue a Rs 500 challan if a driver was not wearing a seatbelt and a Rs 500 challan for motorcyclists who do not wear helmets. Now the police will fine Rs 200 for not wearing a mask in Mumbai. On 22nd Feb Maharashtra reported 6,971 fresh Covid-19 cases and 2,417 recoveries. As per the state health department, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra reached 21,00,884. The number of active cases stands at 52,956 in Maharashtra.
