Delhi: AAP Completely Bans Firecrackers Till January

The Delhi Environment Minister has announced that the production, sale and use of firecrackers will be banned in Delhi till January.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday 7th of September has announced that the production, sale and use of all types of firecrackers will be banned in the national capital till 1st of January.  “Production, storage, sale and use of all types of firecrackers are being completely banned so that people’s lives can be saved,” Rai tweeted. The restriction will remain in force till January 1, 2023. “Online sale/delivery of firecrackers will also be banned in Delhi this time. The restriction will remain in force till January 1, 2023,” he further added. Rai said an action plan will be drawn up with the Delhi Police, Delhi Pollution Control Committee and Revenue Department to ensure strict enforcement of the ban.

Last year, the Delhi government had ordered a complete ban on the sale and bursting of firecrackers in the national capital from September 28 to January 1, 2022. The city government had also launched the ‘patakhe nahi diye jalao’ campaign to create awareness against burning of firecrackers. Action was taken under relevant Indian Penal Code provisions and the Explosives Act against those found burning firecrackers. However, it should be noted that Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party government is known for taking anti Hindu decisions.

Chief Minister Kejriwal has been mocked several times earlier for taking decisions which are against the will and beliefs of Hindus, now the decision of banning firecrackers during the celebration of Diwali adds on to the list. It should also be noted that the culture and tradition of bursting firecrackers on the auspicious occasion of Diwali is not something which has started in recent years. The bursting of firecrackers not only enhances the celebration and joy amongst the kids, but it is also done in order to celebrate the victory of good over evil.

Earlier, after almost every state around the country was seen making Kashmir Files tax free in their respective states, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal called it a fake film and badly mocked the loss of Hindu lives in the Kashmir Valley during the 1990s .Also, it can be noted that the central government of BJP is seen pouring its support towards the spread of Hindu ideologies, however to oppose the ideologies of the central government, the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi seems to take such politically dramatic steps. However, such harsh decisions taken on the religion, which forms a massive majority in the country, can become a major concern for Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party to win elections in the next term.

What do you think about these Hindu targeted policies of states, which restrict the celebration of Hindu festivals in the way they are meant to be celebrated? Do mention your thoughts in the comment section below.
