Firing at Kapil Sharma's Cafe in Canada by Khalistani Terrorist

Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada was attacked with gunfire, and Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi claimed responsibility, calling it a revenge act.

On the night of 10th July 2025, a shocking incident took place in Surrey, Canada, where Kap’s Café, owned by Indian comedian Kapil Sharma, was attacked with gunfire. The café had recently opened and was closed to customers at the time, but some staff members were still inside.

At around 1:50 AM, a car stopped in front of the café, and someone from inside the car fired 9 bullets at the building. Luckily, no one was injured, but the café and nearby shops were damaged and left with bullet holes.

Soon after the attack, Harjeet Singh Laddi, a wanted Khalistani terrorist, claimed responsibility on Facebook. He is linked to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), a banned terrorist group in India. He said the attack was to take revenge on Kapil Sharma for a past joke he made on The Kapil Sharma Show about Nihang Sikhs, a warrior group within the Sikh community.

In the show, Kapil had joked: “Yeh log toh shaadi mein bhi talwar leke jaate hain, shayad baarat mein ladayi karne.” (“These people even carry swords to weddings—maybe they go there to fight instead of celebrate.”) The joke had hurt the religious feelings of many Sikhs at that time.

Harjeet Singh Laddi is already on India’s NIA most-wanted list and is also accused of the 2024 murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in Punjab.

The investigation into the café shooting is now being handled by Canada’s FLIS (Frontline Investigative Support) team, which deals with serious crimes. Officers are checking CCTV footage, speaking to witnesses, and looking into calls and messages that might help find the attackers.

This attack has once again raised concerns about the growing power and protection of Khalistani supporters in Canada. Many are questioning how such people are being allowed to operate so freely.

Kapil Sharma has asked Canadian authorities to act fast and ensure the safety of his staff. A message was also posted on Kap’s Café’s official Instagram page, saying:
"We opened Kap's Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. It’s very sad and painful that such violence has touched our dream. Thank you for your support and messages."
