‘Follow Girls at 11 PM…’ Influencer Nakul Dhull's Shocking Advice

Influencer Nakul Dhull faced heavy criticism after suggesting during a YouTube livestream that boys should follow girls at night to scare them and feel more confident.

Today, many young people see influencers not just as entertainers but also as mentors. They watch their videos daily, listen to their opinions and often trust them more than adults around them. Because of this, when influencers give advice, teenagers may take it seriously, even if the person says it as a joke.

Recently, influencer Nakul Dhull made a controversial remark during a live stream on YouTube. During the stream, a young boy told him that he felt insecure about his average looks and was scared to talk to girls. The boy was hoping to get simple advice on how to build confidence.

However, instead of encouraging him in a positive way, Nakul gave shocking advice. He told the boy not to be scared of girls and suggested that he should follow them at night around 11 pm. He said the boy should walk behind them, run fast and overtake them so that they get scared. According to him, seeing girls feel afraid would make boys feel more confident.

What made the situation more serious is that this advice was not given privately. Nakul said this while he was live streaming on YouTube in front of many viewers.

For many girls in India, being followed at night is not a joke. It is a frightening situation that many have experienced. It often means hearing footsteps behind you, feeling unsafe, calling someone on the phone for support, or walking faster while trying to reach home safely.

Many families in India already worry about the safety of women at night. Parents often stay awake until their daughters return home safely and keep checking their location if they are outside late.

Because of this reality, many people believe that such statements by influencers can be dangerous. Even if someone calls it a joke, talking about stalking or scaring girls can make such behaviour look normal.

After the video went viral, many people strongly criticised Nakul Dhull on social media. One user asked why he seemed proud of making someone feel afraid and questioned whether causing fear should ever be seen as something positive. Another user wrote that such attitudes are exactly what make the world unsafe for women.

Some people also tagged the Haryana Police and the National Commission for Women, asking them to take action. So far, Nakul Dhull has not issued any clarification about his remarks.

India already faces serious issues related to street harassment. Many people say that statements like these can encourage harmful thinking and make it seem normal to follow or stalk someone, which can put real people at risk.
