Haryana Mom Kills 4 Kids, Including Her Own Son and Niece
A case in Haryana revealed that Poonam, a close relative, killed four young children, including her own son. Her confession has shocked families.
In recent times, many shocking incidents have shown that children are no longer safe, even in places once considered secure such as homes, schools and family gatherings. The recent tragedy in Haryana, where four young children were killed by a close family member, has left the community in deep shock and has raised serious concerns about child safety.
Vidhi, a young girl from Sonipat, was travelling with her parents, baby brother and grandparents to Naultha village to attend a family wedding from 30 November to 1 December 2025. On the day of the wedding, most guests went outside for the procession. Inside the house, Poonam, a 32-year-old relative who was highly educated with an MA in Political Science and a B.Ed degree, noticed Vidhi going up to the terrace. She followed her, gained her trust, and took her to a storeroom. There, she drowned Vidhi in a tub, locked the room and returned downstairs as if nothing had happened.
Later, when Vidhi was found missing, the family searched for her. After an hour, her grandmother discovered her body in the storeroom. Poonam confessed to the murder during interrogation.
Shockingly, she also admitted to three earlier murders. In 2023, she drowned her niece Ishika and her own son Shubham at her home in Bhawad. In August 2025, she drowned her cousin’s daughter Jiya in Siwah. At the time, all deaths were believed to be accidental. Police say she was driven by jealousy and targeted young girls in her family. She was produced in court on 3 December 2025 and sent to police custody.
