Indian Air Force to be Used for Conducting NEET Re-Examination After Paper Leak

After the NEET UG paper leak controversy led to the exam's cancellation, the government is considering using Air Force aircraft to ensure a secure and fair re-examination.

NEET UG is India’s biggest medical entrance exam, taken by lakhs of students dreaming of becoming doctors. Every year, aspirants spend months preparing, often sacrificing social lives, hobbies, and comfort to secure a seat in a medical college.

This year, around 22 lakh students appeared for the exam on 3 May 2026. But soon after, allegations of a question paper leak surfaced, with reports suggesting that some candidates may have gained unfair access through bribery.

As the controversy grew, the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the exam on 12 May, leaving lakhs of hardworking students frustrated and heartbroken. To address the issue, a fresh examination has been scheduled for 21 June 2026.

Now, the government is pulling out all the stops to ensure a leak-free re-exam. In a high-level meeting on 28 May, senior ministers discussed using Indian Air Force aircraft to transport question papers securely across the country.

While some critics say involving the Air Force is excessive, others believe extraordinary measures are necessary to restore trust in the examination process.

With lakhs of students once again preparing for the test, all eyes are on the government to deliver a fair, transparent, and secure NEET UG examination.
