Jesus Film Now in Sign Language

Deaf Missions, a global organization that works to spread the Word of God amongst the Deaf have announced their plans on producing a film about Jesus’ birth and his life in American Sign Language.

Deaf Missions, is a global organization that works to spread the Word of God amongst the Deaf. They have announced that they are planning on producing a film about Jesus’ birth and his life in American Sign Language.According to the organisation, the movie spread the story of Jesus to about 70 million deaf people worldwide. The full-length film is still being developed, the organisation says.Chad Entinger who works with Deaf Missions said that, “The heart-language, it’s related to a person’s identity. For a person to see something in their heart-language, that really will capture their heart, and they’ll feel, that person will then, will feel like ‘Oh my goodness, they’re actually communicating to me. This is my language’,”

Mission Network News explained that many Deaf assume that God is only for hearing people. They feel like this because churches use all resources to spread information about Jesus among the Hearing.“This movie translation challenges that concept and is an investment in Deaf ministry and discipleship. It also communicates to the Deaf community that they matter to not just Christians, but to God,” Mission Network News reported.“We really believe that God can and will use the movie in sign-language to reach Deaf people,”Chad Entinger said.

Making the movie will at least three-four years. The organisation is currently looking for funds to make the movie. There are still many countries that do have Bible translations in their local sign languages. Entinger hopes the Jesus Movie will help connect people and encourage them to translate Bible in sign language.

He says that the Deaf community will get excited, and they’ll see the impact of the Jesus Movie in their own sign languages.
