Mamata Banerjee Insults National Anthem

West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai. Banerjee, who is on a three-day visit to Mumbai, also met Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray's son Aditya. Currently in Maharashtra Shiv Sena - NCP - Congress have made an alliance and formed the government. However there are a lot of rumours that Shiv Sena and NCP are not happy with the Congress.

Mamata’s visit to Maharashtra has increased the rumours and people are saying that Sena & NCP may break the alliance and partner with TMC. However none of the party leaders confirmed anything. Now a new controversy has emerged concerning Mamata. Mamata had attended a press conference in Mumbai. She was sitting down. Suddenly she stood up and started singing the national anthem. Halfway through the national anthem she sat down.

A BJP leader in Mumbai has filed a complaint against Banerjee saying that she disrespected the national anthem. People should stand while singing the anthem and complete the entire song. They can not stop halfway and sit down. It is against the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. People said as a Chief Minister she should know the rules but still she did this. Similarly many others were angry over Mamata’s behaviour and demanded that she be punished. However Mamata has not responded to any of this.
