Modi Launches Pension Scheme for Workers

Prime Minister Modi launches Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana, a pension scheme for people in the unorganised sector. This scheme is aimed at improving the standard of living of the poor.

Prime Minister Modi on 5th March 2019, launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana in Ahmedabad.This is a national pension scheme for workers and labourers who work in the unorganised sector. The organised sector means jobs which are not permanent. For example workers and labourers.

This scheme was announced in the interim Budget in February and more than 42 crore workers will be eligible for this.If workers contribute Rs 55 to Rs 200 every month, they can receive a pension of almost Rs 3,000.

PM Modi said that this scheme was for that section of society which is always ignored. He said his aim is to remove poverty from the country.

When he was in Ahmedabad, he distributed the PM-SYM pension cards.He said that for the first time after Independence, workers and labourers will now receive pension.
