Purple Fest Goa 2025 is Coming
Purple Fest 2025, a fully accessible festival celebrating people with disabilities, will be held in Panaji, Goa, from 9th to 12th October, with registrations open at purplefest.goa.gov.in.
Purple Fest is an international festival held in Goa that celebrates the lives, talent and stories of persons with disabilities. It brings together people from India and abroad to enjoy cultural shows, sports, exhibitions, workshops and many other activities. The festival is known for being fully accessible with ramps, sign language interpreters, captions and other support so that everyone can take part. This year, ISH News is the media partner for Purple Fest.
The International Purple Fest will happen from 9th to 12th October 2025 in Panaji, Goa, at the Entertainment Society of Goa.
The festival is organised by the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Goa. It is supported by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and the United Nations India.Purple Fest is full of exciting programmes. There will be Purple Street, a colourful place to enjoy, and the Purple Think Tank, where people will share ideas about disability and inclusion. The Purple Experience Zone will help people understand how persons with disabilities live. The Purple Exhibition will show new tools, art and creative products. There will be Purple Rain, with music, dance and comedy shows, and the Purple Conference, where experts and leaders will have important discussions. Sports are also a big part of the fest, with Blind Football, Para Olympics, Special Olympics and Asian Blind Chess. The Purple Kaleidoscope will show art, the Purple Fun Zone will include activities like cycling, sky gazing, coastal trails and accessible films, and the Purple Spectrum will showcase workshops and film festivals. There will also be 21 Purple Ambassadors who will spread the message of inclusivity.
The colour purple is chosen because it stands for power, dignity and independence, which are values important for people with disabilities. The entire festival is planned to be fully accessible with ramps, lifts, accessible toilets, sign language interpretation, live captions, visual and tactile support, sensory rooms, digital maps and volunteers to help.
