Soldiers Use Hammer to Break Frozen Egg
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a few soldiers posted at the Siachen Glacier demonstrate how hard it is for them to cook or consume food in the extremely cold weather conditions.
The thought of surviving cold temperatures ranging from minus 40-70 degrees scares most people. However the same does not apply to Indian Army soldiers posted in the Siachen glacier area. For these soldiers it is just like war. In the Siachen glacier everyday is a challenge. In a video that has gone viral, a few soldiers posted in Siachen demonstrate how hard it is for them to cook or consume food in the extremely cold weather conditions.The soldiers said that liquid juice inside the packet transforms into a thick block of ice, which cannot be broken using a hammer. The soldiers said that the frozen block of juice has to be boiled in hot water before they can drink it.
In the cold even the eggs freeze. In the videos the soldiers use a hammer to crack the egg.It is impossible to break open the egg shell despite beating it with the hammer. Even after banging the egg on the table it just bounces off without any signs of a crack."These are the eggs you get here on the glacier," said one of the soldiers. The soldiers also demonstrated how it is impossible to cook potatoes, tomatoes and other vegetables at such cold temperatures without boiling in hot water.
After the video went viral on social media, many people have come out in support of the soldiers and thanked them for the hardships they go through to protect the country.The Siachen Glacier is located in the eastern range of the Himalayas where the Line of Control between India and Pakistan ends. This location is extremely important for India. As long as the glacier is under India's control, the Pakistani army can't link up with the China and enter Ladakh. Till now almost 163 Jawans have lost their lives due to the harsh weather.
