UP Couple Gets Death for Raping 33 Boys, Selling Videos Online

A Banda POCSO court sentenced a couple to death for sexually abusing 33 minor boys over nearly a decade, after a probe by CBI was initiated following inputs from Interpol.

A special POCSO court in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, has sentenced a couple to death for sexually abusing minor boys over a period of nearly 10 years in Banda and Chitrakoot districts. The court described the matter as one of the “rarest of rare” cases, noting the long duration of the offences, the number of victims and the serious physical and mental trauma suffered by the children.

The case came to light after Interpol alerted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on 17 October 2020 and shared digital evidence traced to India. Based on this input, the CBI registered an FIR on 31 October 2020 and started a detailed investigation.

According to investigators, the accused targeted minor boys from economically weak families living near their residence and workplace. The children were allegedly lured with gifts and other attractions. The court found that the couple committed aggravated sexual assault and recorded the acts. The probe revealed that the illegal material was circulated online and shared with persons abroad.

The CBI arrested the main accused in November 2020 and his wife about a month later. During searches, officials seized cash and electronic devices which were sent for forensic examination. Medical experts examined several survivors and submitted their findings to the court. The agency filed its charge sheet in February 2021, and more than 50 survivors and 74 witnesses deposed during the trial.

On 20 February 2026, the Banda POCSO court delivered a 163-page judgment convicting both accused under relevant sections of the IPC, the POCSO Act and the IT Act. Apart from the death sentence, the court imposed fines on both and directed the Uttar Pradesh government to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation to each of the 33 victims. The seized cash will also be distributed among them. The defence has said it will appeal against the verdict, and further investigation in the case is continuing.
