UP Man Kills 1-and-Half-Year-Old Boy to Marry His Mother

Jitendra Pathak allegedly killed a toddler in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh due to obsession with the child’s mother, leading to his arrest after a police encounter.

A shocking and tragic incident took place in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, on 30 May 2026, where a one-and-a-half-year-old child named Aarav was brutally murdered.

According to reports, Aarav’s mother Rati had married Sumit in 2024. Due to marital problems, she had been living separately at her parents’ home for the past few months along with her son.

The accused, Jitendra Pathak alias Viraj, was a relative of Sumit and had come in contact with the family while helping in their divorce-related matters. During this time, he developed strong feelings for Rati and repeatedly proposed marriage, but she refused every time.

On 29 May, Rati and her mother had gone to Shikohabad, either to meet a relative or for legal advice regarding the divorce. The accused followed them there and again proposed to her, but was rejected.

Police said that the accused became obsessed and believed that Aarav was the main reason why Rati was not accepting his proposal.

On 30 May, Viraj took the child with him saying he would buy him a toffee. CCTV footage later showed him taking the child to an isolated area and committing the brutal act. After the incident, he ran away from the spot.

The family rushed Aarav to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The incident left the local people shocked and deeply disturbed.

Police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and sent the child’s body for postmortem.

The accused remained on the run for some time, and police teams conducted raids to find him. When police finally located him, he reportedly opened fire at them. In response, police shot him in the legs and arrested him.

During questioning, the accused confessed that he was obsessed with Rati and saw the child as an obstacle to his marriage plans, which led him to commit the crime.

The incident has created strong public anger, with many people demanding strict punishment for the accused.

This case highlights how dangerous obsession can become and the serious consequences it can lead to.
