Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shocks IPL with explosive 97 runs in 29 balls

15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stunned IPL 2026 with a breathtaking 97 off 29 balls, turning his small-town Bihar dream into a national cricket sensation.

IPL 2026 witnessed pure madness as 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered one of the most explosive knocks in league history.

Playing for Rajasthan Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the teenage sensation smashed 97 runs off just 29 balls, hammering 12 sixes and reaching his half-century in only 16 deliveries. He missed a century by just 3 runs but still left the cricket world stunned.

Vaibhav also broke the record for most sixes in an IPL season with 65 maximums, surpassing Chris Gayle’s long-standing record of 59 sixes from 2012. His innings powered Rajasthan Royals to 243 runs and a dominant 47-run victory.

But what makes his story even more special is where he comes from.

Vaibhav hails from Tajpur village in Bihar’s Samastipur district — far away from India’s major cricket hubs. His family made enormous sacrifices to support his dream. His father reportedly sold farmland and travelled nearly 100 kilometres regularly for training, while his mother woke up at 3 AM daily to prepare meals before practice sessions.

From playing Ranji Trophy cricket at just 12 years old to earning a ?1.1 crore IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav’s rise has been extraordinary. Many questioned whether someone so young could handle IPL pressure. Rajasthan Royals believed in him — and that faith now looks visionary.

What impressed fans even more was his calm confidence after missing a century. His response: “Centuries will keep happening.”

At just 15, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is no longer just a young talent — he’s becoming the face of small-town dreams and the future of Indian cricket.
