Noida Supernova Death: What We Know About Sambhav Jain’s Case

A 28-year-old software engineer, Sambhav Jain, from Gurugram died by suicide after falling from the 43rd floor of the Supernova complex in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on 3 October 2026. According to police and reports, Sambhav had been facing serious mental, personal, and financial stress. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

Sambhav’s Final Days

Sambhav left home around three days before the incident and stayed at different hotels before reaching Noida.

On 2 October, he booked an Airbnb apartment at Supernova for one night. He arrived at around 3 pm and was expected to leave the next day. While he was at the apartment, an AC repair team working in a nearby flat noticed him outside the balcony railing. The workers tried to speak to him and convince him to move to safety.

According to reports, Sambhav told them that he was depressed. Despite their efforts, he eventually jumped. A video showing people trying to stop him was later shared online.

Police Investigation

Police sent his body for a post-mortem examination, and a forensic team examined the location. Investigators are checking CCTV footage and questioning people who were present at the time.

Police also found conversations between Sambhav and his father about his mental health and financial problems. His father had repeatedly asked him to return home and assured him that the family would help. According to police, Sambhav said that he wanted to repay his debts and had lost the desire to live. Police are also examining his phone, messages, and other digital evidence.

Financial and Family Problems

Police are investigating several issues that may have contributed to Sambhav’s distress.

Sambhav married in 2024 and had a son in 2025. The child was born prematurely and required long-term medical treatment. Reports say the family spent around Rs.30-40 lakh on the child's treatment, and Sambhav borrowed money from friends and family. Sambhav and his wife later separated. Reports say a court-ordered divorce settlement involved around Rs.15 lakh in alimony, with around Rs.7–8 lakh already paid. Social-media claims that he was facing a Rs.3 crore alimony payment are not supported by the reports.

What Was Found on His Phone?

Sambhav had recorded a video before his death in which he spoke about his debt and took responsibility for his decision. Police have taken his phone into custody and are examining the video, WhatsApp conversations, call records and other digital evidence.

Previous Deaths at Supernova

This is not the first death involving a fall from the Supernova complex. In January 2023, a 43-year-old property consultant died after falling from the upper section of the under-construction Spira Tower. In August 2025, a 23-year-old law student died after falling from the 32nd floor while staying in a flat in the building.

Short-Term Rentals Banned

Following the recent incidents and security concerns, the Supernova Apartment Owners’ Association issued a notice against short-term rentals through platforms including Airbnb, OYO and Booking.com. The association warned residents against offering their flats for short stays through these platforms. The investigation into Sambhav Jain’s death is ongoing.
