People are using AI to turn their normal photos into 1980s-style pictures, with big hairstyles, colourful clothes, old cameras and classic Bollywood looks. The trend has quickly become popular online. But before uploading your photo, there is an important question:

What happens to the photo after you upload it?

A photo can contain personal information such as your face, family members, home, workplace and other details. Different AI services also have different rules about how they store and use uploaded images.

Before using an AI photo tool, check its Privacy Policy and look for a few things:

  • Does the app save my photo?
  • How long will it keep it?
  • Can it use my photo to improve its AI?
  • Can it share my information with other companies?
  • Can I ask for my photo to be deleted?

This does not mean every AI photo tool is unsafe. It means you should understand where your photo is going and how it may be used.

There is also another risk. Scammers can use popular AI trends to trick people into clicking fake links or downloading harmful files. Delhi Police has warned that photos uploaded to unknown AI tools could potentially be misused for fake profiles, fraud or blackmail.

So, before joining the 80s trend, check the AI tool, read its privacy settings and avoid unknown links.
