Actress Shefali Jariwala Passes Away at 42

Popular actress Shefali Jariwala, known as the "Kaanta Laga Girl," passed away at 42 due to a suspected heart-related issue.

Famous actress and dancer Shefali Jariwala, also known as the “Kaanta Laga Girl”, has sadly passed away at the age of 42. This news has deeply shocked the Bollywood industry and her fans across the country.

Shefali became famous in 2002 with the hit music video “Kaanta Laga”, where her bold style and confident dance moves made her an overnight star. She was later seen in music videos, movies like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and reality shows like Boogie Woogie, Nach Baliye 5 (2013) and Nach Baliye 7 (2015).

The tragic incident happened on 27th June 2025 at Shefali’s home in Andheri, Mumbai. She suddenly felt strong chest pain. Her husband Parag Tyagi and others quickly took her to Bellevue Hospital. Sadly, doctors declared her dead on arrival, and her body was then sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem.

According to reports, Parag reached home at 9:45 pm, and by 10:15–10:30 pm, they left for the hospital. At 11 pm, Shefali was declared dead, and by 11:15 pm, her body was sent for further examination.

At 1 am, the police were informed and started a proper inquiry. As of now, they have not found any signs of murder or foul play, but they are waiting for the postmortem report to confirm the exact reason.

Doctors at Cooper Hospital believe her death may be due to a sudden drop in blood pressure. The police said Parag told them that Shefali was fasting that day and fell sick after eating food that was prepared the day before.

The police also searched Shefali’s home and spoke to her cook, domestic help, husband and family members to understand what really happened. They found two boxes of anti-ageing, skin glow, and vitamin tablets at her house. Some reports say Shefali used to take anti-ageing injections every month and even took one on the day of her fast.

Her family informed the police that Shefali had been taking these tablets without a doctor’s advice, but she never faced any health problems because of them in the past.

After the cremation, Shefali’s husband Parag spoke to the media and said, “Please don’t make drama out of this. I request everyone to pray for my Pari (Shefali).” Videos from the funeral showed her parents and close ones in deep sorrow.

In a 2020 interview, Shefali had shared that she was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 15. She suffered from seizures, depression, panic attacks, and said that stress and anxiety triggered her health issues. However, with proper treatment and lifestyle changes, she proudly said she hadn’t had a seizure in 10 years.

Shefali was more than just a music video star. She built a successful career in films, reality shows, and web series. She was admired for her confidence, beauty, and graceful personality.

She had earlier spoken about her troubled marriage with Harmeet Singh, which ended in 2009. She accused him of domestic violence and said there was no emotional respect in their relationship. Later, she married actor Parag Tyagi, and the couple had shared their dream of adopting a baby girl.

Her sudden death is a reminder that health problems can come without warning, even for someone who looks happy and active. The film and TV world, along with her fans, are mourning her loss.

Let us pray that Shefali Jariwala’s soul rests in peace.
