Bihar Man Goes to Withdraw Rs 1100, Finds Rs 759 Crores
Several people in Bihar were shocked after their bank accounts suddenly showed balances of over ?740 crore due to a technical glitch in the banking system.
On 12 July 2026, an unusual incident took place in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Eighty-two-year-old poet Kameshwar Mishra visited a Common Service Centre (CSC) to collect his old-age pension, while his disabled son went to collect his disability pension.
After withdrawing ?1,100, Mishra checked his bank balance and was shocked to see nearly ?759 crore in his account. His son's account showed a similar amount, taking the combined balance to more than ?1,500 crore.
Mishra immediately informed bank officials, but the huge balance disappeared within minutes. Authorities later confirmed that it was only a technical glitch and no money had actually been deposited.
Similar incidents have recently been reported in Vaishali, Samastipur, Nawada and Gaya districts of Bihar, where people briefly saw balances of over ?740 crore in their accounts due to a banking system error.
Videos of these incidents have since gone viral on social media.
