Chinese Scientists Develop Bone Glue That Heals Fractures in Minutes

Chinese scientists have developed a bone glue that can repair fractures in minutes. This innovation reduces surgery time, speed healing, and eliminates the need for metal implants.

"Bone?02: The Revolutionary Glue That Can Heal Broken Bones in Minutes"

Imagine breaking a bone and walking out of the hospital just minutes later, without metal screws, long surgery, or a bulky cast. This is becoming a reality thanks to Chinese scientists who have developed a new bone glue called Bone?02.

In September 2025, in Beijing, China, researchers led by Dr. Lin Xianfeng unveiled Bone?02, a bioabsorbable medical adhesive that can repair fractures in just two to three minutes. Inspired by oysters that cling tightly to rocks under the sea, the glue works even in wet and tricky conditions inside the body, such as during surgery. Once the bone heals, the glue safely dissolves, eliminating the need for additional surgeries to remove metal implants.

Traditional fracture treatments often involve metal plates, screws, or external fixations, which require long surgical procedures and sometimes additional operations to remove hardware. Bone?02 could reduce surgery time, lower infection risks, speed up healing, and provide better results, especially for severely broken bones.

However, several questions remain. Long-term safety for large weight-bearing bones is still under study, and the glue must pass strict regulatory approvals for safety, cleanliness, and strength. Additionally, production needs to be scaled to make it affordable and available in hospitals worldwide.

If successful, Bone?02 could revolutionize the way fractures are treated, making recovery faster, safer, and less invasive. Scientists are optimistic, but careful testing and monitoring are essential before it becomes widely available.
