Drunk Doctor Does Surgery on Pregnant Woman: Dies After Delivery

22-year-old pregnant woman Julie dies on way to Bareilly after giving birth at a private hospital in Shahjahanpur. Police have registered a case against two doctors as the investigation continues.

A tragic incident happened in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a 22-year-old pregnant woman, Julie, died after giving birth.

On 8 September, Julie went into labour. Her family took her in a private ambulance to a government hospital. But on the way, the ambulance stopped outside a private hospital in Powayan after the driver suggested they consult a doctor there.

Inside, Dr Firoz called another doctor, Dr KP, from the city. According to the family, Dr KP arrived allegedly drunk but still performed the delivery. Julie gave birth to a baby boy during the night of 8 and 9 September. Soon after, Julie’s condition worsened.

The doctors advised her family to take her to Bareilly for further treatment. But Julie died on the way. Her newborn son survived.

On 10 September, police registered a case against Dr KP and Dr Firoz under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation will now look into the treatment Julie received and what happened at the private hospital.
