India Wears Special Orange Jersey For Charity

For the India vs England Match, the Indian team wore orange and blue colored jerseys which created an uproar on social media and among politicians.

The ICC had passed new rules that a team will need two jerseys for the World Cup. One will be their standard kit and the other will be an 'Away Kit'. They did not want clashing colours on the field. Since England is the Home team, India would have to wear different color jersey. This is why they decided on the color orange.

Yesterday India wore a special edition Blue and Orange jersey for their match against England. This jersey was not the usual Indian Blue.  Many teams have needed ‘Away’ jerseys this World Cup. South Africa, Bangladesh and Afghanistan all had to a different colored jersey inorder to avoid a clash of color.

This is a one-off and will not be worn again in the tournament. The BCCI teamed up with kit makers Nike. The ICC to made it special and said that after the match the jerseys will be sold in auction. The money collected in the auction will be given to the One Day 4 Children charity run by UNICEF.

A political war has broken out in India. Many politicians have said that the color orange was selected to show support to the BJP and Modi government. They said that the BJP is trying to politicise cricket. However the BCCI who said they have no political motives behind this colour choice. Many are not at all happy with the color of the jerseys. On Social Media many fans compared the jersey to the uniform worn by Indian Oil staff.
