Indian Army Participates in Zapad 2021

The Indian Army demonstrated its superb battle drills and excellent firing skills at Zapad 2021, a multinational military exercise in Russia.

ZAPAD is a military programme conducted by Russia & Belarus every 2 years. In this Russian Army, Navy & Air Force along with other militaries from across the world are invited to participate and demonstrate their military power during the programme. All the miliatry operations that will be demonstrated will mostly focus on how to protect from terrorism. The aim is to strengthen military and strategic ties between countries and also boost anti-terror cooperation. A total of 17 countries participated in Zapad 2021 which began in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia on September 3 and will end on September 16. From India a group of 200 soldiers from the Naga Regiment from Nagaland of the Indian Army participated. They demonstrated their battle drills. They demonstrated bombs, missiles, tankers, shooting, etc and showed the world that India has a very strong and dangerous army. They also performed the traditional Nagaland dance at the event. They performed a special Heliborne Operation where Indian soldiers jumped out of helicopters with a parachute. 

Interestingly, while India showcased its military prowess at the war game, Pakistan and China were among the 'observer' nations along with Vietnam,, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka, Malaysia

Russian President Vladimir Putin came to watch the programme on 13th September.
