In shocking news, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP Party Chief Ajit Pawar reportedly died in a plane crash this morning in Baramati. Pawar was travelling in a chartered Learjet 45 from Mumbai to Baramati. The tragic incident occurred around 8:45 AM when the plane went off the runway and exploded while trying to land.
Baramati airport manager Shivaji Taware confirmed that the plane was attempting to land when the accident happened. Emergency teams rushed to the site, but unfortunately, all six people onboard, including Ajit Pawar, had already died. Some reports suggest the plane may have been attempting an emergency landing, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
Ajit Pawar was scheduled to attend four public events in Baramati today between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM ahead of the Zilla Parishad elections. Known as “Dada” by his supporters, Pawar was admired for his strong administrative skills and leadership. He holds the record for being the longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, having served six non-consecutive terms.
His influence was most visible in Baramati, where he played a key role in developing the region into a model for industry and agriculture. Ajit Pawar’s sudden death has left a deep void in Maharashtra politics. His sister and MP Supriya Sule has already left Delhi for Baramati to be with the family.
