Man Walked Barefoot For 14 Years To Meet PM Modi
PM Modi helps a devoted follower wear shoes after 14 years of walking barefoot to fulfill a vow.
A heart-touching moment between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a devoted follower, Rampal Kashyap, is winning hearts across the country.
A video going viral on social media shows PM Modi sitting with Rampal and then gently helping him wear shoes – an emotional and powerful gesture that touched millions.
Rampal Kashyap, a resident of Kaithal, Haryana, had made a unique promise back in 2009. He took a vow that he would not wear shoes until Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India and until he met him in person. Since then, for 14 long years, Rampal walked barefoot – through the burning summers, cold winters, and heavy rains.
On 14th April 2025, Rampal’s dream finally came true. PM Modi was visiting Yamunanagar, Haryana, to lay the foundation stone for several development projects. During the event, Rampal was invited to meet him on stage in front of a large crowd, including media and supporters.
In the video shared by PM Modi on X (formerly Twitter), Rampal is seen wearing a white kurta-pajama and walking barefoot to the stage. After greeting each other, both sat down on the sofa. PM Modi asked Rampal, “Why did you remain barefoot for so long? Why did you trouble yourself?” Rampal replied that he had been waiting for this moment for 14 years.
Then, in a truly emotional gesture, the Prime Minister picked up a pair of grey shoes and said,
"Toh aaj hum tumko juta pehna rahe hai, lekin baad mein phir kabhi aise karna nahi"
(“I am going to make you wear shoes today, but don’t do this again in the future”).
He then helped Rampal wear the shoes and even asked if they were comfortable. Overwhelmed by the moment, Rampal was seen with tears in his eyes, full of gratitude and happiness.
PM Modi also gave a message to his followers, saying, “I respect your feelings, but I request everyone to focus your dedication on things connected with social work and nation building.”
This moment, full of humanity and emotion, reminded many people of the deep bond that can exist between a leader and the common man. In a time when political divisions often make headlines, this event brought a message of faith, sacrifice, and unity.
