MP Woman Jailer Marries Murder Convict

Firoza Khatoon, a jail officer from Madhya Pradesh, married former convict Dharmendra Singh after their relationship began during his time in prison

A remarkable love story from Madhya Pradesh has captured attention online.

Firoza Khatoon, an Assistant Superintendent at Satna Central Jail, met inmate Dharmendra Singh while handling prison administration. Dharmendra was serving a life sentence in a 2007 murder case, but his good behaviour earned him administrative duties inside the jail, bringing the two into regular contact.

What began as professional interaction gradually turned into friendship and then love.

After spending nearly 14 years in prison, Dharmendra was released in 2022 due to good conduct. Despite his release, the couple remained in touch and eventually decided to marry.

Their relationship faced resistance from Firoza’s family, partly because she is Muslim and Dharmendra is Hindu. Nevertheless, they went ahead with their wedding on 5 May 2026 in Chhatarpur, following Hindu rituals.

With the bride’s family absent, Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Rajbahadur Mishra and his wife performed the kanyadaan ceremony, while members of Bajrang Dal attended the wedding.

Videos of the ceremony quickly went viral. Some hailed it as a story of love and second chances, while others raised questions about the ethics of a jail official marrying a former convict.
