Noida: 16-Year-Old Girl Raped in Moving Bus by Driver and Conductor

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving sleeper bus in Greater Noida, with two bus staff arrested as the investigation continues.

A 16-year-old Class 11 student from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving sleeper bus after she sought help during heavy rain on the night of 4 August 2026.

The girl had left home after being scolded by her mother and was travelling to her cousin’s home in Noida. Due to the heavy rain and darkness, she mistakenly got off at Pari Chowk, Greater Noida, around 9 PM — nearly 25 kilometres from her destination.

Stranded in the rain, she signalled an empty sleeper bus to stop. The driver, Kuldeep (39), and conductor, Sandeep (29), told her they could drop her towards Noida Sector 63. She boarded the bus, but police allege that the two men later sexually assaulted her and threatened her with death.

The bus travelled around 47 kilometres towards Kashmere Gate, Delhi, before the girl was left near the area. She immediately approached the Kashmere Gate police station and reported the incident.

Police arrested both accused from a bus parking area in Timarpur, north Delhi, and seized the bus for forensic examination. Investigators reportedly found strands of the girl’s hair inside the vehicle and are examining additional evidence and CCTV footage.

Police said the bus had recently undergone repairs in Greater Noida and was being driven back to Timarpur when the accused allegedly encountered the girl.

Both men, who are from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, had reportedly been working for a private travel company for more than two years.

The investigation is ongoing. The incident has also triggered a political response, with the Congress criticising the BJP governments in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi over the case.
