Pregnant Journalist Pushed By Rahul Gandhi?

Journalist Richa Parashar, who was three months pregnant, alleged that Rahul Gandhi grabbed her hand and pushed her during an opposition protest in Delhi on October 12.

Pregnant Journalist Blames Rahul Gandhi for Pushing Her

A political controversy has come into picture after Richa Parashar, a journalist said that she was three months pregnant and blamed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of pushing her during an opposition protest in New Delhi on October 12, 2026.

Parashar was covering a protest near the Supreme Court against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress has rejected her allegations, while the BJP has criticised Gandhi over the incident.

What Did the Journalist Allege?

Parashar said she was trying to get a response from Rahul Gandhi when the incident occurred. According to her account, she moved her microphone away before bringing it forward again. She alleged that Gandhi grabbed her hand and pulled it. She also claimed that security personnel pushed her, causing her to fall on the steps near the entrance.

Parashar said her cameraman also fell on her, followed by several other people during the commotion. She alleged that she fell on her stomach and injured her knees and hand. Her phone was also damaged. She further claimed that some of Gandhi’s supporters shouted at her instead of helping her. After feeling unwell, she went to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, where she was admitted.

Parashar later appealed to media organisations that had recorded the incident to release their footage.

Congress Rejects the Allegations

The Congress party strongly denied that Rahul Gandhi pushed the journalist. Party leaders described the allegations as false and rejected claims that Gandhi had assaulted her.

Congress leader Alka Lamba also questioned the timeline of the incident and raised concerns about the medical tests reportedly conducted on Parashar. She suggested that the incident was being used for political purposes. Videos of the confrontation circulated on social media. However, the incident remains disputed, and the available reports do not prove how Parashar fell.

BJP Criticises Rahul Gandhi

The BJP criticised Gandhi over the allegations, and several party leaders visited Parashar at the hospital to express their support.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari accused Gandhi of behaving like a “goon”. He also questioned Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s slogan, “Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon”, which translates to “I am a girl, I can fight”. Bhandari argued that the allegations contradicted the Congress party’s public message about women’s rights. The BJP used the incident to intensify its criticism of the Congress leadership.

A Disputed Incident Becomes a Political Row

The allegations have added another controversy to the political dispute surrounding the opposition’s protest against the SIR process and its demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

For now, the allegation remains disputed. Further evidence and developments may clarify the sequence of events.
