A Tamil Nadu police head constable became the centre of attention after clinging to the roof of a speeding SUV for nearly 40 kilometres during a police chase in Coimbatore.
Police had stopped the SUV after receiving information about suspected gutka smuggling. The driver suddenly accelerated and tried to escape.
The constable, M. Velmurugan, climbed onto the roof and held on to the vehicle’s rails as the SUV sped away. Other police teams chased the vehicle and eventually managed to stop it.
Three Arrested
Police arrested three men from the vehicle and recovered a large quantity of banned tobacco products. A video of the dramatic chase has since gone viral on social media.
