Turkey Asks Indians to Visit — But India Says No
After Turkey supported Pakistan, Indians cancelled trips to Turkey. Travel companies stopped offering tours, and politicians called for a boycott.
The relationship between India and Turkey has become tense after Turkey supported Pakistan during a recent conflict with India. This support did not go down well with the Indian public. Many Indians cancelled their travel plans to Turkey, and the effects are now being seen across the tourism and business sectors.
Big travel companies like EaseMyTrip and Cox & Kings have stopped selling tickets and holiday packages to Turkey and Azerbaijan. The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has also joined the protest. They have asked the Indian government to give a strong warning against travelling to Turkey.
In response, Turkey’s tourism department made a public request. They asked Indian tourists not to cancel their trips, saying, “Turkey is safe and welcomes Indian visitors.” However, this message did not work. Many Indians believe Turkey is only trying to save its tourism income.
In 2024, more than 3 lakh Indian tourists had visited Turkey. But after the boycott, that number is falling quickly. This situation shows how international politics can affect tourism and trade.
The impact is now spreading beyond travel. In Himachal Pradesh, Turkish apples have been banned, and local traders have been asked not to import them. In cities like Pune and Udaipur, marble traders have also stopped buying Turkish marble.
These actions clearly show that Indian people and industries are united in sending a strong message — India does not support any country that stands against its national interest.
