Will Asim Munir be Killed in a Car Bomb Attack?

A viral video from a PTI protest in the UK, claiming a car bomb threat against Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, has put Pakistan’s government and security agencies on high alert.

A shocking development has come to light involving Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir. A woman living in the United Kingdom has claimed that Asim Munir could be killed in a car bomb attack. This statement has created serious concern and put Pakistan’s government and intelligence agencies on high alert.

The claim surfaced during a protest held by supporters of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Imran Khan is a strong critic of Asim Munir, and many of his supporters believe that the army chief played a role in getting Imran Khan jailed. This belief has caused deep anger among Khan’s followers.

The situation became more tense after Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, was sentenced to 17 years in prison in a corruption case on 20 December 2025. After this verdict, workers of Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), began holding protests and rallies in Pakistan as well as in other countries.

One such rally was held on 26 December 2025 in Bradford city in the UK. A video from this protest went viral on social media. In the video, a woman addressing the crowd claimed that Asim Munir would be killed in a car bomb attack. The woman’s identity is still not known, and investigations are ongoing.

The video was shared by PTI UK’s official X (Twitter) account, which made the issue more serious. Soon after, the video was deleted, with PTI saying it was taken out of context and that confusion had spread because of it. However, by then, the video had already reached Pakistani authorities.

Following this, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the UK’s Deputy High Commissioner, Matt Cannell, and asked him to investigate the matter quickly. Pakistani officials treated the issue as serious due to the country’s violent political history.

Pakistan has seen the assassination of top leaders in the past. One major example is former President Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, who died in a mysterious plane crash in Bahawalpur in 1988. Such incidents make threats against senior leaders a matter of high concern.

According to Pakistani media reports, security around Asim Munir has been tightened. He has reportedly started wearing a bulletproof jacket and sits behind bulletproof glass during meetings at the army headquarters.

This incident has once again shaken Pakistan’s political atmosphere. The country has returned to global headlines, highlighting the growing tension between the army leadership and supporters of Imran Khan.
