Firing at Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai House, Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Involved
Gunshots were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai residence, with a social media account linked to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang claiming responsibility.
Gunshots were fired at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai in the early hours of 1 February 2026, creating panic in the area. No one was injured in the incident, and police have launched a detailed investigation.
Rohit Shetty is a well-known Bollywood director famous for hit films like Singham and the Golmaal series. The firing took place at his nine-storey residential building in the Juhu area around 12.45 am.
According to police, at least five rounds were fired at the first floor of the building. One bullet also hit the glass of a gym located inside the building. It is not yet clear whether Rohit Shetty was present at home at the time of the incident.
After the firing, security outside the filmmaker’s residence was increased. Teams from Mumbai Police, the crime branch, forensic science department and ballistic experts reached the spot to collect evidence. Police also checked CCTV footage from nearby areas to understand how the incident took place.
A case has been registered under charges of attempt to murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. During the investigation, a social media account linked to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang claimed responsibility for the firing.
The post was shared from an account named Shubham Lonkar Arzoo Bishnoi, which had Lawrence Bishnoi’s photo as the profile picture. The post claimed that the firing was carried out by Arzoo Bishnoi, Shubham Lonkar, Hari Boxer and Harman Shandu. It said the attack was a “trailer” and warned that if the director did not take their threats seriously, the next attack would be inside his house.
The post also issued threats to people in the Hindi film industry, warning them of consequences worse than the killing of politician Baba Siddiqui, who was murdered in Bandra in October 2024. It further warned that those contacted by the gang should respond, or they would have nowhere to hide.
Mumbai Police, however, described the social media post as a publicity stunt. Despite this, Pune Police detained five men in connection with the case. The accused were identified as Aman Marote, Aditya Gayaki, Siddharth Yenpure, Samarth Pomaji and Swapnil Sakat. They were later handed over to Mumbai Police for further questioning.
Meanwhile, the future schedule of Golmaal 5, which is expected to release on 15 February, may be affected. A member of the film’s creative team said that upcoming shoot dates will now depend on Rohit Shetty and police clearance.
Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has been linked to several threats and attacks in the past. The gang has earlier claimed responsibility for attacks on actor-comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada and has also issued repeated threats to actor Salman Khan. The investigation in the Rohit Shetty firing case is ongoing.
