New Rule in Maharashtra: If Cab Drivers Cancel Your Ride, You Get Paid
Ola, Uber, Rapido rides get safer! Under Maharashtra’s 2025 policy: ?100 if driver cancels, surge capped, and stricter safety rules.
Many people in Maharashtra use apps like Ola, Uber, and Rapido to book cabs. But often, the drivers cancel the ride after accepting it. This causes a lot of trouble for people who are in a hurry.
Now, the government of Maharashtra has made a new rule in the Aggregator Cabs Policy 2025 to stop this problem.
Here’s What’s New:
You Get Money if Driver Cancels
If a driver cancels your ride, you will get ?100 or 10% of the fare (whichever is less). This money will go to your app wallet.
No Big Price Hikes
Drivers can’t charge very high prices during busy hours. The fare can only go up to 1.5 times the regular amount.
More Safety for Passengers
All cabs must have GPS, emergency buttons, and drivers must be police-verified.
Drivers Can’t Keep Cancelling
If a driver keeps cancelling rides or refuses short trips, they will be fined or punished.
Drivers Get Help Too
Drivers will get 80% of the fare and also get health insurance and training from the cab companies.
Why This Matters:
The new cab policy introduced by the Maharashtra government in 2025 has a clear and simple purpose — to make app-based cab rides fairer and smoother for passengers. Many people have faced trouble when drivers cancel rides at the last minute, especially during busy hours or for short trips. This new rule makes sure that if a driver cancels a ride without a good reason, the passenger will get up to ?100 as compensation.
The idea is to stop drivers from canceling rides so easily and to give passengers a better, more reliable experience. At the same time, the policy also offers support to drivers, like fair earnings and insurance, to keep things balanced for everyone.
What Do You Think?
Do you think this rule will really stop drivers from cancelling rides, or will they find new ways to avoid short trips?
