It has been a year since the farmers began their agitation against the Central Government’s three farm laws. They have been camping at three border points of Delhi -- Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur -- for the last 12 months. Recently PM Narendra Modi announced that the 3 laws will be repealed in the winter session of the parliament. PM Modi had said his government is ready to discuss all issues and answer all questions in the Parliament regarding the removal of the farm laws. The winter session of Parliament began on a stormy note Monday 29 November. In the Lok Sabha the 4 three farm laws were repealed within 4 minutes. In the Rajya Sabha, the laws were removed following a brief discussion. When the Central Government was repealing the laws, the opposition parties wanted to debate and raise some demands of the farmers. However, the Government refused to debate and went ahead to completely remove the laws. The opposition leaders are extremely upset over this.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that, ‘What they did is wrong. We wanted to raise the farmers' demand for a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) and compensation for farmers who died during protests. But the government denied us that chance.’ Nationalist Congress Party's Supriya Sule said, "This government doesn't want discussion. They have a problem with debate. They want to do whatever they want. This is not a democracy." Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Monday said farmers will not leave the protest site unless a discussion on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and other issues are held. However, with the farm laws repealed, the Association of Apartment Owners has planned a march from Amrapali village in Ghaziabad till the farmers’ protest site to ask them to move out.

Related to farmer protests, Actor Kangana Ranaut has filed a complaint at a police station in Himachal Pradesh against the people who allegedly gave her death threats over her post on farm law protesters.
