56 Year Old Man Jailed For Smoking Beedi in Flight

Here are 2 crazy flight incidents! Have you ever seen a man smoke in a flight washroom?! And, about a heavy turbulence that injures 7 passengers?!

A 56-year-old man has been arrested for smoking beedi inside a flight on 16th May. The arrested has been identified as Praveen Kumar, a resident of Pali district in Rajasthan. Kumar is a laborer in the construction industry and was going to Bengaluru to work. He was found carrying a pack of beedi. According to a complaint filed by Vijay Thulluru, a duty manager at SNV Aviation Private Limited, Kumar smoked a beedi inside the toilet on Akasa Air's Ahmedabad- Bengaluru flight at around 1.10 pm. The crew immediately secured him and the flight captain declared him an unruly passenger.

The crew followed the required safety protocols and the passenger was handed over to the local police with the help of CISF upon landing in Bengaluru. The crew is also assisting the authorities with their investigation into this matter.

Kumar told police that he was not aware of the no-smoking rule as he was flying for the first time and thought that this would be similar to smoking in a train washroom - something he professed to doing regularly.

This is the first time at the Bengaluru Airport that someone has been arrested for smoking beedi. Earlier this year, two passengers were booked by airport police for lighting cigarettes.

In another incident, an Air India’s Delhi-Sydney flight saw severe turbulence on 17th May 2023. 7 people were injured. The flight was carrying a total of 224 passengers. Seven passengers reported minor sprain. The cabin crew provided help using the first-aid kit onboard with the assistance of a doctor and a nurse who were traveling as passengers in the same flight. After the flight landed safely in Sydney, Air India's airport manager in Sydney arranged medical assistance on arrival but just three passengers opted for it and no one required hospitalization.

Crazy things are happening on flights these days!
