Rajasthan Woman Breaks Car Window, Saves Couple and 11-Month-Old Son

A Rajasthan woman bravely rescued a couple and their 11-month-old baby from a submerged car.

On the morning of 25 November 2025, 38-year-old Surta Parmar was doing her daily work at home in Dharti Mata village, Rajasthan when she heard a loud sound. She rushed outside and saw a car almost completely submerged in a 10-foot-deep water-filled pit.

The car was carrying Dharmesh Yadav, his wife Shilpa Yadav and their 11-month-old son Drish. The family was trapped inside, with water reaching their necks. Dharmesh and Shilpa had fainted, while the baby was crying.

While people gathered around the spot, Surta entered the water to rescue the family. Her 15-year-old daughter Ayushi also joined her with ropes. Surta broke the car window with a rod and, with the help of two young men, opened the vehicle.

She first pulled out baby Drish and then rescued his parents. The family was taken to hospital by police and an ambulance. Drish was later discharged, while Dharmesh and Shilpa were taken to a hospital in Udaipur for further treatment.

The family later offered Surta a reward for saving their lives, but she refused the money. Surta said she did not consider her actions brave. She said she could not stop herself after hearing the cry of a baby trapped inside the car.
